East Capital Real Estate obtains BREEAM sustainability rating for Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel, a first for a hotel in Estonia

East Capital Real Estate has obtained a BREEAM “In-Use Very Good” sustainability certificate for the Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel. This is the first time that a hotel in Estonia has received such a rating under the world`s leading Building Research Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method BREEAM.

Built in 2016, the 202-room Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel is located in the heart of Estonia’s capital city,- and features a restaurant, conference centre, gym and spa. The hotel is the brand’s first in the Baltic region. The East Capital Baltic Property Fund III, managed by East Capital Real Estate, acquired the building in 2016, shortly after it opened.

The BREEAM rating reflects East Capital Real Estate’s sustainability objectives for the property investments it oversees.  The building is the third in the East Capital Real Estate portfolio to have obtained a BREEAM “In-Use Very Good” certificate, after the Metro Plaza and A13 office buildings in Tallinn.

East Capital Real Estate is one of the leading real estate investment management companies in the Baltic region with teams operating in all three of the countries. It manages three funds with assets worth a total of 430 million euros, comprising 24 properties offering a total of 382,000 square metres of space to tenants.

East Capital Real Estate’s CEO Madis Raidma commented: “Minimising the environmental impact of buildings lies at the forefront of every investment we make and it’s important to have an internationally recognised sustainability standard to benchmark our assets. This is integral to our strategy since we’re seeing heightened demand for sustainable buildings from investors and tenants alike.”

Erkki Seinre, the BREEAM certifier at BuildingLabel OÜ who assessed the hotel, said: “The Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel’s certificate will hopefully motivate others to follow the ambitious lead of East Capital Real Estate.”

The certification process for Hilton Tallinn Park Hotel will be posted on the BREEAM homepage as a case-study.
